On February 23, 2024, the Superior Court of Los Angeles County California will no longer include month and year of birth as a search field in its criminal search index. This follows their decision earlier to remove the day of birth.
This action will cause considerable backlogs in conducting records searches as researchers will no longer be able to search by name and date of birth, but by name only, resulting in records found requiring clerk-assisted research to confirm the DOB’s. Due to requirements of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), name-only matched records are not reported, rather an additional identifier is required.
